About Kailee Scales and Peter Jones

The story

Saturday, the day before her birthday, I took Kailee on a horse-drawn carriage ride around Central Park, followed by dinner at the always romantic Candela, under the guise of it being a birthday dinner and a present.

However, I had arranged for some of her best friends to sneak into our apartment while we were out. They lay down a path of rose petals framed by tube lights from the front door, through the living room, to the terrace, hanging roses from the ceiling and tulle on the wall.

On the terrace, a bottle of Grande Dame Clicquot and chocolate-covered strawberries nestled next to a rosebud in full bloom with the Engagement ring nestled in the heart of its petals. Surprised, perplexed, astonished, when we got home Kailee followed the rose petal path which had so magically appeared while we were out. On the terrace, with a little prompting, she sat down, gazing at the champagne, chocolate, roses ... and a ring.
